What Do We Do?

Monthly Photography Outings: Most months we organise a photo shoot outing. We visit locations such as the Mothar Mountain Rock Pools, Hervey Bay, Mary Valley, Kenilworth Show, historic sites, Sunshine Coast, Rainbow Beach sunrise, Carlo Sand Blow sunset, night shoots, Noosa Everglades, Lake McDonald, specific events (festivals, carnivals, etc). There is usually a morning/afternoon tea and/or lunch stop involved on a "pay-your-own-way" basis. All members are invited and if travelling away, car pooling is usually available (car poolers  often give the driver a contribution towards fuel).

Annual Photography Retreat: Usually 5 (week) days away staying in a rented holiday accommodation (usually a house or apartments depending on numbers. Numbers may be limited due to the availability of accommodation). Meals are self-catered and transport is by car pooling. Costs are shared - we try to keep them under $250 all inclusive (excluding personal spending money) for the week. In recent years, we've had retreats to the Bunya Mountains, Stanthorpe & the Granite Belt (including Autumn Leaves in Tenterfield), Norfolk Island (12 days, guided tour), the Sunshine Coast, Boonah/Lake Moogerah, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Caloundra, Burrum Heads and Bargara. We have a great time - both photographically and socially.

Facebook Group: Our Club has Facebook Group through which we conduct online activities including Photo Challenges. The group is for current financial and past Members ONLY!

Interclub Activities: Each year we organise or participate in interclub activities with other clubs in the Wide Bay region. These activities include the Annual Interclub Night with Gympie Camera Club and safaris/"Hunt & Shoot" with Hervey Bay and Gympie clubs.

External Competitions: Our members regularly and actively participate in state, regional and community photography competitions, as both individuals and as a PSQ-affiliated club. These competitions include the APS Australian Cup, the Queensland Projected Digital Images Inter Club Competition (QPDI/ICC), the Tewantin Shield (TNS), Cooloola Ambulance Photography Competition, and competitions in regional shows.
