2026 September Digital Competition:
Macro / Close Up
SUBJECT: Macro / Close Up
JUDGE: Jenny Graff
COMPETITION STATUS: Open. Entries close Tuesday 1 September.
The Judge's Comments, Awards and Pointscores are available from the Pointscore & Results page
from the 4th Thursday of each month.
SUBJECT DEFINITION: A macro image captures tiny subjects at life-size (1:1 on the camera sensor) so the subject
fills the frame, and the fine details become visible. A specialist macro lens is required.
A close-up image captures tiny subjects in significantly more detail than the human eye usually perceives.
Close-up images do not require specialist macro lenses and can be captured by using a telephoto lens to zoom in
on the subject or shooting close to a tiny subject to make it appear larger than life.
